Invictus Elixir was created by Alexandra Carlin, Anne Flipo and Caroline Dumur. Top notes are Mineral notes, Salt and Graperfuit; middle notes are Cypress, Coconut and Lavender; base notes are Vanilla Caviar, Moss, Benzoin and Cedar.

Invictus Elixir: A Salted Vanilla Powerhouse (Sample Review

I recently picked up the 5ml sample of Invictus Elixir to see what all the hype was about, and I have to say, this is a beast of a fragrance. It is a massive departure from the fresh, sporty vibe of the original Invictus, leaning into a dense, sweet, and incredibly potent profile. If you are looking for a subtle, office-safe scent, this is absolutely not it. But if you want a fragrance that announces your arrival from across the room, this is a winner.

The Scent Journey

The opening is a shock to the system, but in a good way. It hits you with a bizarre yet compelling mix of mineral notes, salt, and grapefruit . It smells cold, bright, and almost "fizzy," like a tropical bath bomb . The salt is the star here; it is not an aquatic, ocean salt, but a dry, almost metallic mineral salt that gives the fragrance a sharp, energetic edge .

As it starts to settle, the heart introduces a creamy coconut and lavender blend . This is where the "Le Beau" comparisons come in, as the coconut is not a fresh, pina colada type, but a sweet, syrupy, and slightly synthetic coconut that feels very modern . The lavender adds a nice aromatic touch, though on my skin, it gets quickly swallowed by the sweetness .

The dry down is where this fragrance truly shines and becomes a monster. The base is a rich, gourmand vanilla caviar that is incredibly sweet and sticky . It smells almost chocolatey and ambery, like a melted, salted caramel dessert . The cedar, moss, and benzoin provide a woody, slightly resinous backbone that keeps it from becoming a pure sugar bomb, but make no mistake, the vanilla is the dominant force here .

Performance

Performance is where the "Elixir" name earns its keep. The longevity is easily 8 to 10 hours on my skin, and it lasted even longer on my clothes . The projection and sillage are loud. This is a room-filler. For the first few hours, it projects massively, and even after it softens into a skin scent, you can still smell the sweet, salty vanilla trail .

Final Verdict

Invictus Elixir is not a complex, evolving masterpiece. It is a straightforward, "what you see is what you get" fragrance: a salted vanilla bomb with a modern, slightly synthetic edge . It is undeniably popular and a huge crowd-pleaser for the clubbing or date-night crowd .

For $19.99 for a 5ml sample, this is an excellent way to experience a high-performance designer release without committing to the full bottle. Just be prepared for the sweet, loud, and unapologetically synthetic ride. It is a perfect example of the current "Elixir" trend: overkill for some, but a guilty pleasure for others .
